ATLANTA -

Two local teens are being hailed as heroes after they rescued a couple from a dangerous riptide during a trip to the beach.

Tyler Feagan and Dillon Humphries were on Spring Break in Panama City, Fla., when they saw a man and woman about 130 feet off shore screaming for help.

"Both of them were having a hard time swimming, so we swam out there and I grabbed her on my back and slowly started swimming back in," Humphries said.

At the same time, Tyler went to help the man.

"He was putting up a fight -- he wasn't trying to, he was in that fight or flight mode where he didn't know what to do, he wanted to survive," Feagan said. "At that time, I told him to look me in the eye and take a deep breath."

That man is Melvin Todd, a tattoo artist from Atlanta, who was on vacation with his girlfriend Tatiana Nelthrope.

"Tyler and Dillon came from nowhere, really like superheroes," Todd said. "I was really just holding him for dear life like I have no energy, you have to get me…Without Tyler, I wouldn't be standing here."

Todd says he has a whole new outlook on life after that experience.

"Really, being appreciative of life and just seeing that there are good people in the world who are willing to put everything aside for strangers," Todd said.

Todd says he owes everything to Dillon and Tyler: his life, his girlfriend's life and the life of their baby: Tatiana is 5 months pregnant.

"It came to me -- I just saved two lives and it's a great feeling to save her and her kid," Humphries said.

Todd says he and his girlfriend had already picked out names for their baby, but after what happened in Florida, they're now considering Tyler and Dillon as names.
