How To Help Tech Addicted Tots

Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11) Tablet computers and iPads are, perhaps, the best babysitters since Sesame Street.

But now there are concerns that if parents don't set limits, kids could become tech addicts long before kindergarten.

Child and adolescent psychologist Dr. David Swanson told FOX 11 that the interactive screens provide instant gratification, trigger dopamine surge in brain, and can be as addicting as using cocaine.

Swanson said parents should follow the 40-40-20 rule. Kids should spend:

-- 40% of time moving their bodies

-- 40% of time engaging in social interactions with friends and family

-- And no more than 20% of time in front of a screen
