WASHINGTON -

50-year-old Ezra Porter of Temple Hills, Md., is facing a charge of first-degree sexual assault after an alleged incident onboard his MetroAccess van last Friday.

Metro Transit Police launched an investigation after being contacted by a family member of the adult female victim.

Porter allegedly stopped his bus at a location in Bowie, and according to Metro, had inappropriate sexual contact with a passenger, who he later transported to her residence.

Porter is employed by MV Transportation, which provides drivers and vans for MetroAccess service under a contract that expires June 30. He has worked for MV since November of 2009.

Metro says he has not operated a vehicle since the alleged incident.

Metro says it requires the company to do background checks on its drivers.
