Police sergeant arrested for aggravated assault after drunken rampage

Drunk, violent, and pointing a loaded gun at people on the street. It is behavior that police officers are usually dealing with – not allegedly doing it themselves!

And it led to officers arresting one of their own.

Coolidge Police Sgt. Jake Jordan took his squad out for dinner in the valley. They were off-duty -- but dinner turned into snorting shots of alcohol -- a wild night that went too far.

His face bloodied and bruised in his mug shot, Sgt. Jake Jordan is in big trouble. It started at BJ's Brewery in Chandler on Wednesday night.

According to court records, Jordan ordered shots of rum, then put a straw in the shot glass and snorted it up his nose. Daring his squad to do the same, a witness says Jordan snorted 4 or 5 shots.

Then they came to Sandbar on Ray Road, where they partied for a few more hours and shut the bar down. The sergeant was responsible enough to have a designated driver. But the real trouble started on the way back home to Coolidge.

On Highway 287 they came up on construction crews, and Jordan allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at a flag man. Then he allegedly wanted to shoot out a construction light before putting the gun away.

The trouble continued when Sgt. Jordan got home. His wife told police he wanted to drive himself to get food. When she refused, Jordan allegedly flipped the sofa over and it landed on top of her. Then she says he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her into the entertainment center.

She called another officer for help. That officer and Sgt. Jordan got into a fight before police finally arrested him.

Jordan says he doesn't remember what happened after he left Sand Bar. He's facing aggravated assault, disorderly conduct involving a weapon, and criminal damage charges. It's not clear if he was using his department-issued gun.
