LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. -

An 8-year-old girl has died in a boating accident at Lake Havasu, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Deputies responded to a boating accident Monday afternoon in the Salt Basin area.

A 43-year-old man, his wife, and their four children were visiting from Cottonwood and were traveling in a rented 2000 Premier Pontoon. They were heading northbound at a slow rate of speed when their 8-year-old daughter fell off the bow of the boat and was struck by a propeller.

She was wearing a life vest but was pronounced dead at the shore.

The victim was identified as Sarah Roderick, 8, of Cottonwood, Arizona.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, but the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
