Report: Marathon victim wrote description of bombing suspect

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Chelmsford native Jeff Bauman had just come out of surgery when he asked for a paper and pen to write down a description of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

Bauman, who lost both his legs in the bombings, became the subject of one of the most broadcast photos from the attacks after emergency crews wheeled him away from the scene Monday afternoon.

The 27-year-old's brother, Chris, tells Bloomberg News that a man wearing a cap, sunglasses, and black jacket over a hooded sweatshirt looked at Jeff before dropping a bag at his feet. Bauman says the bag exploded about two and a half minutes later.

While investigators would not comment on specific witness statements given to them, Chris Bauman says his brother gave the FBI a description of the man he saw. Investigators released images of two suspects Thursday, both are wearing hats and black jackets over hooded sweatshirts. Only the first suspect is wearing sunglasses.
