Many Take To Social Media To Stand By Boston

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The social media response to the deadly Boston Marathon blasts has been overwhelming.

All during this tragedy and the chaos and uncertainty that has ensued, the people of Boston have come together. People there are banding together, opening their homes to complete strangers, who can't go home right now because of the explosions.

They're taking to twitter, giving information on where they live, and how many people they can take in.

They're using the hashtag "#OpBoston" to connect with others.

The country has also united in support of the victims and the city of Boston.

Facebook users were quick to develop memes to help them cope with the tragedy. People shared photos of support as well as comforting quotes from Mr. Rodgers, comedian Patton Oswalt and composer Leonard Bernstein.

There are also calls for runners to wear race shirts Tuesday in solidarity.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney was live in the social media center with more on what people are Tweeting and Facebooking after this tragedy.
