WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WJBK) -

26-year-old Ann Germain of Wyandotte was one of the runners who was able to finish Monday's Boston Marathon unharmed. She finished the race in three hours and sixteen minutes. Less than half an hour later, when she was at her rental car, the explosions went off.

This was her first Boston Marathon, and after the blasts, her heart sank for her friends running behind her in the race. Because the marathon does not allow cell phone use, she used social media to check in with them and thankfully, everyone she knew was safe. However, she realizes just how lucky she is.

"If I had stopped and sat down for longer or had any medical problems after the race, needed to rehydrate, we could've been there. It could have been any of us," she says.

Germain says she doesn't think she'll run the Boston Marathon again -- not because of what happened -- but because the course is so grueling.
