Minneapolis police warn of girl's lock out scam

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Minneapolis police are warning residents in the Third Precinct to be on the lookout for a young girl who has stolen from three people while claiming to be locked out of her home.

According to investigators, the girl has been going to homes and telling whoever answers the door that she is locked out of her house and needs to use a phone to call her mother.

Police say once a resident lets the girl in to wait or call, she steals from the home, taking credit cards, cash, phones, iPads and iPods before leaving.

All incidents reported occurred on Columbus Avenue between East 41st Street and East 46th Street.

Anyone who has been a victim of a similar crime is urged to call 911 immediately so police can better track the cases.
