The same closures and delays apply to the second weekend of Coachella,
For alternate north-south routes, drivers can use Washington, Jackson, Calhoun Street and Golf Center Parkway, Curtis said. Alternate east-west routes include Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue, Avenue 52 and Avenue 48.
Curtis said about 25,000 people will be shuttled into and out of the concert venue from locations throughout the Coachella Valley to help ease traffic. The pickup and dropoff point for taxis and others will be at Avenue 52 and Madison.
No pedestrian or pedestrian festival access will be allowed on Monroe and Madison between avenues 49 and 52. Pedestrian access will be available at the corners of Avenue 49 and Monroe and Avenue 52 and Madison. Golf carts won't be permitted on any of those streets.
Curtis said he advises everyone to have patience, and local residents should avoid routes taken by concertgoers. He said people can call the city's non-emergency concert hotline, (760) 541-7800, or email firstname.lastname@example.org with concerns or questions.
The Palm Springs Police Department asked people in town for the festival to buckle up and use a designated driver, and to be careful crossing streets.
