PALM HARBOR (FOX 13) -

A toddler lost both legs and part of her hand Wednesday night after authorities say she fell in front of a riding lawnmower.

The accident happened outside a home on Hollow Ridge Road in Palm Harbor around 7:30 p.m.

According to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, the girl's father was driving the mower when the she ran toward it. She slipped and fell, and the father was unable to stop the mower in time.

"She suffered from immediate amputations to both legs below the knees and partial amputation on her hand," Palm Harbor Fire Rescue said in a media release.

The 2-year-old girl -- later identified by police as Ireland Nugent -- was flown to Tampa General Hospital.  Detectives say her feet were severed at the ankle, and her left hand was injured, but is intact.

Her parents were also treated for symptoms related to extreme emotional duress.

Investigators say the incident was indeed an accident; no charges will be filed.
