North Georgia and the metro area could see severe storms on Thursday.
According to FOX 5 Storm Team meteorologist Joanne Feldman, a storm system will move in from the west, creating a few isolated pop up storms during the early afternoon hours, and some of those could be severe.
The front and the line of strongest storms should move into far northwest Georgia by 4 or 5 p.m. It will come through metro Atlanta from 7 p.m. to midnight, then east of Atlanta through 2 to 3 a.m. After midnight, the storms should lose their intensity, says Feldman.
Feldman says the main threat from the storms will be damaging winds. Hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Rainfall amounts will average 1 to 2 inches, with some areas possibly seeing 3 inches of rain, says Feldman.
