GLENDALE, Ariz. -

About 1500 people are without power after a transformer blew near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road on Saturday.

Glendale Firefighters say a blown transformer started a fire after a fallen power line melted the pavement in the middle of the street.

APS crews are working to restore power to those affected.

Live wires were down on the street. APS turned them off to prevent more incidents while they work to fix the power outage.
