(WJBK) -

Police are warning residents of Grosse Pointe Woods and Gross Pointe Shores to be on alert for homemade bombs.

The devices are constructed using two-liter pop bottles and are rigged to cause a chemical reaction and subsequent explosion capable of causing physical harm.

Four pop bottle bombs have been found in those communities, and one exploded Thursday night.  No one was hurt, but police say the bottle bombs can cause serious injuries.

If you find a two-liter bottle on the side of the road, police are warning you to walk away and call them immediately.

If you know anything about these bombs, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.  You never have to leave your name.
