Pedestrian killed, drivers flee the scene

A pedestrian who was hit by as many as three cars has died, and only one of the vehicles involved stayed at the scene.

It happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday at 27th Ave and Bethany Home Road. Phoenix Police say that a vehicle, described as an older-model faded red Nissan Sentra, hit the victim and fled the scene.

A minivan also struck the pedestrian, but stopped at the scene. A third vehicle, a yellow Nissan Sentra, also hit the victim and also fled.

The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

The victim, a 39-year-old American Indian man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
