ATLANTA -

Three people were injured after an SUV went over an overpass in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday.

Police said that the Jeep Liberty was heading east towards Spring Street when the driver had a medical emergency and swerved off the road. It crashed through a guardrail and then went off the bridge on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to Officer John Chafee of the Atlanta Police Department.

The vehicle fell 50 to 100 feet into a parking area, taking a 35-foot section of the guardrail with it.

The three occupants were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries, according to Chafee.

The driver was cited for driving without a license, Chafee said. No other charges have been filed.
