MIDDLETOWN TWP., Pa. -

When a state trooper noticed a car in the driveway of an abandoned business off a busy Route 1 in Middletown half a mile from the state police barracks, he was suspicious.

His suspicions proved correct when he found a Ridley High School teacher allegedly inside with two students, marijuana and beer.

"I'm shocked. I have an 11th grader in the high school and I didn't hear nothing about it," one parent told FOX 29.

"I think the teacher should be fired," another parent said.

Police say the teacher, 33-year-old Katherine Preusser, was in the front passenger seat with two open beer cans and a box containing marijuana. Police say the trooper also found a water bong and two cans of beer in the back seat with a female student. A search of the trunk turned up unidentified pills.

"Sick. Sick to my stomach just wanna' protect the kids," said Dan Tecce, a parent of a student in the district .

"It doesn't surprise me now a days, but it's still a shame for the student wise, ya' know," said Linda Lou Vonderstuck-Carroll

"I would never let my child go to a teacher's house or in a teacher's car no matter what," said parent Dawn Kelly.

No one answered the door at the address in Fishtown that Preusser gave police. School officials told FOX 29 they suspended the second year English teacher pending their own investigation and a school board meeting.

"Students are for students, teachers are with their own people you know, it shouldn't have happened at all," Carroll said.

"Should fire her, yeah definitely," another added.

Preusser was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, along with furnishing alcohol to minors and corruption of minors.

School officials say they can't comment further. State police say the teacher and the students told troopers they went to the movies together at the Granite Run Mall to see "The Last OZ."

Parents of the two students told police they thought their children were at one of the student's homes, not out with the teacher.

Preusser has a preliminary hearing on May 7th.
