Family Of Tyler Clementi Responds To Firing Of Rutgers Coach

Posted: Updated:
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -

The parents of Tyler Clementi on Wednesday said they supported the decision of Rutgers University to fire basketball coach Mike Rice.

In a statement, the family applauded the decision and said "coach Rice's conduct has no place on a campus that is devoted to learning and fostering a sense of community."

"We know Rutgers is such a place, and, like all colleges and universities, it must not tolerate that kind of behavior."

Clementi committed suicide after he was the victim of cyber-bullying.

The family says since his death, Rutgers leadership has worked with their foundation to create protocols that ensure a safe environment for students.
