Overnight burglaries, home invasions increase on SW Side: Alert

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police have issued an alert to Southwest Side residents about a series of burglaries that have taken place in the overnight hours in recent days, including one in which a victim was sexually assaulted.

The offender in the reported incidents enters homes or garages during the overnight hours while victims are home, then steals items from the home. In one instance, a victim was sexually assaulted in her home, police said.

Incidents occurred on March 30 and 31 in the:

  • 5200 block of South Nagle Avenue;
  • 6000 block of South Narragansett Avenue;
  • 5200 block of South Narragansett; and
  • 6000 block of South Nagle.

There was no description of the offender, other than he was seen in just one incident and was described as tall and thin, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
