Out & About: Thai Town

Posted: Updated:
Hollywood, CA -

Thai New Year is coming up, so what better place to visit on my latest Out & About adventure than Thai Town in Hollywood? And there's no better tour guide to bring along than internationally renowned chef and hometown culinary hero Jet Tila. This morning we're visiting some of Jet's favorite spots (and those he shared with Anthony Bourdain on "No Reservations") including Siam Sunset Restaurant, the only place you can get Thai breakfast at 6am (we're talking homemade Thai donuts and savory soy milk); Bhan Kanom Thai, which literally translates to "House of Thai Desserts"; and Bangkok Market, the first Thai market in the history of America that was opened by Jet's family.

If you like what you see, you can also have your own excursion with Jet's Melting Pot Tours of Thai Town. Just don't expect pad Thai or satay. That's for beginners. This is all about down home, old school, just-like-they-do-it-in-Thailand stuff here.

Don't forget: If you have an idea for a neighborhood I should visit, make sure to tweet me or leave a comment below.

Happy Eating!
