Ga. General Assembly OKs lobbying rules bill

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia lawmakers have unanimously approved the state's first restrictions on lobbyist spending.

The bill was approved with one hour to spare Thursday before the midnight end to the 2013 legislative session. It now heads to Gov. Nathan Deal.

The bill would prevent lobbyists from spending more than $75 at a time on public officials, including lawmakers. Lobbyists could not pay for entertainment expenses or foreign travel for lawmakers.

People will have to register as lobbyists if they are receive more than $250 in pay or reimbursements for their lobbying work.
