PHILADELPHIA -

A Philadelphia police officer remains in the hospital after a driver hit him and kept going. His girlfriend made a plea for information.

"He's in a lot of pain," said Emily Resnick. She talked to FOX 29 outside of the hospital where her boyfriend, 28-year-old Michael Brady remains. The Philadelphia police officer is the victim of a hit and run that happened Wednesday morning.

"We understand that accidents happen. It's got to be terrifying to hit somebody with your car but we just can't begin to comprehend how you can just leave somebody bleeding on the side of the road. So, it's been really hard for us. It's really scary," she said.

Resnick said  Michael is getting better, but doctors now say his concussion is more severe than they originally thought.

"He had another cat scan just to check to make sure he doesn't have brain bleeding or brain swelling. So we're waiting on those results right now."

Police have surveillance video that shows the dark colored Ford Taurus they believe hit Michael around 2:30 Wednesday morning on the 2300 block of East Cumberland Street. He was off-duty and walking home from a night out with friends. The video also shows a block away, a passenger gets out of the car, appears to check the damage to the car and then takes off.

"We're really hoping that the person will come forward and do the right thing. It's got to be hard to come forward but it's the right thing to do," said Emily.

Michael, who runs 30 to 40 miles a week and never missed a day of work last year, suffered a traumatic thing but is still thinking about protecting and serving.

"It's really hard for him. He actually keeps asking me when he gets to go back to work, " said Emily.

The reward for information that leads to an arrest now stands at $10,000. Call Philadelphia police if you know anything.
