Man’s body pulled from lake on South Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man's body was pulled from Lake Michigan on the South Side Thursday morning.

The police Marine Unit assisted in the recovery of the body about 11:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of East Hayes Drive, near Promontory Point, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

The man was identified as 76-year-old John Williams, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Area South detectives were conducting a death investigation.
