ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

A Roseville man was shot in his own driveway Thursday morning, while trying to move his car so his wife could leave for work.

Police say the shooting happened in the 26000 block of Lehner Street around 6 a.m. Police say the 33-year-old victim went to move his car from the driveway when he was shot one time in the chest.

The man's wife tells police she heard a loud bang, looked out a window and saw her husband on the ground. She ran to his aid.

"Then she ran back in and got a blanket and threw the blanket over top of him," said Roseville Police Chief James Berlin.

Stunned neighbors watched, wondering what had happened as the man was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

"I heard him moaning - he was moaning out in the driveway," said neighbor Bob Stieber. "Then there was police cars and ambulances and a fire truck... the works."

Fortunately, the victim's condition has been ungraded to stable.

Police say there still searching for a suspect and a motive. Neighbors are hopeful someone will be taken into custody soon.

"We don't know if this is a robbery gone bad or if there's something else taking place," Chief Berlin said. "But we're investigating all avenues."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Roseville Police.
