If you plan to visit the tidal basin during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, keep one thing in mind: don't pick the blossoms - it's against the law!
The National Park Service notes on its website that picking blossoms is not only prohibited, but new blossoms won’t grow whenever a twig is broken off.
Climbing trees in the park is also prohibited.
The festival runs through April 14th and peak bloom is predicted somewhere in between April 3rd through the 6th.
