CARROLLTON, Ga. -

The flu bug has hit one west Georgia elementary school hard.

Officials say 159 students were absent from Central Elementary School in Carrolton on Wednesday. That's about 15 percent of the student body.

The Carroll County Board of Education tells FOX 5 that flu and strep are to blame.

A spokesperson says the outbreak was concentrated at that one school.

Tanner Medical Center says its facilities have not seen a big spike in cases involving school-age kids.
