Interim DeKalb County School Superintendent Michael Thurmond met with parents in Brookhaven on Tuesday.
Thurmond has held several town hall meetings to get the public's input on improving education. He's working on new budget to get the district's finances in order. He said he's ready to make tough choices so that DeKalb schools would not lose accreditation.
State Representative Mike Jacobs joined Thurmond in the discussion. He told the audience about a proposed bill that would let cities create separate school systems.
That legislation would require a constitutional amendment.
