Local Figure Skater Not Letting Severe Hearing Loss Defeat Her

WILMINGTON, Del. -

For Danielle Fanelle, there is no other place where the 20-year-old feels more comfortable than on the ice of a skating rink.

Fanelle says she has wanted to be a figure skater since she was a little girl.

"I remember it so vividly, just stepping onto the ice. It's a feeling you can't describe," Fanelle said.

In her quest to be a figure skater, Fanelle says she has had to work harder because she was losing her hearing. But two years ago, when she was a junior in high school, she says the situation became unbearable.

"I couldn't hear things, nothing was loud enough, it came down to that. I couldn't hear anything."

But even hearing loss wouldn't be enough to defeat her.

You can watch the story from FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney in the video above.
