Two men have been arrested and $409,000 in meth seized in two separate busts along the Arizona-Mexico border.
Saturday, Customs and Border Protection officers manning the border in San Luis referred a Phoenix man for inspection of his Lexus sedan as he was trying to enter the United States.
A drug-sniffing canine allegedly alerted to the presence of drugs in Ricardo A. Martinez's car. Officers located a hidden compartment underneath the engine, which contained 14 pounds of meth (photo 1). Martinez was turned over to ICE.
Sunday, a Nogales, Mexican man was stopped as he was trying to enter the United States at the Nogales port of entry.
A canine alerted to the presence of drugs in 26-year-old Oliver Cordova Santoyo's truck, CBP said. Officers found 12 pounds of crystal meth in the floorboard between the seats (photo 2).
The drugs and vehicle were processed and Cordova is facing prosecution.
