CHANDLER, Ariz. -

A motorcyclist died after colliding with an SUV near Commanche Drive and Warner Road early Sunday morning.

Chandler Police say a man was driving a Mercedes SUV when out of nowhere, a 22-year-old man riding a motorcycle hit his vehicle.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Officers say they believe he may have been impaired and was driving at least twice the speed limit at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle was destroyed and left debris spread across the road. A street light was also severely damaged and was found lying on the ground.

The driver of the SUV and his two occupants weren't injured.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 22-year-old Anthony Ray Chavez.
