Spring is in the air. It's time for Easter and makeovers. As the adage goes, it's out with the old, and in with the new.

Time Out Chicago's D.L. Hopkins has the details on meeting new connections at an adult mixer, shopping at a flea market, high fashions showcased at a new museum exhibit and styles featured in a local fashion-fundraiser.


Today's Chicago Woman comes down with Spring Fever, the mag's annual singles party and fund-raiser for its eponymous nonprofit, which raises funds for female-centric charities. Snack on hors d'oeuvres from Wow Bao and Eli's Cheesecake, and dance to tunes set by DJ Shelly. The next day, take comfort in the fact you earned that brutal hangover in the service of charity. For 50 years, the Ebony Fashion Fair brought high fashion to black folks across America, raising $50 million for various charities in the process. More than 60 outfits on custom-made mannequins are now on display at the Chicago History Museum's latest exhibit, "Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Fashion Fair." The costumes are divided into three themes: vision, innovation and power. At 7,000 square feet, it's one of the largest special exhibits the Chicago History Museum has ever mounted. If you don't own red pumps, Rock the Red: Bold. Fashion. Awareness is a great reason to purchase a pair. Already have scarlet heels? Slip them on to recognize the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls, and attend tonight's charity fashion show. Gentlemen, represent with red ties. Whether outlandish or plain, a bonnet means admission is waived to Randolph Street Market Spring Fling. For the kid at heart, search for eggs filled with market bucks, season passes and candies. iNG restaurant chef Homaro Cantu is in the house demonstrating recipes. He'll sign copies of his latest cookbook, The Miracle Berry Diet Cookbook. As always, walk off with vintage apparel, jewelry, vinyl records, artisan comestibles and home furnishings from 200 purveyors.
