The Arizona Lottery says its two newest millionaires are a Maricopa widow and an Arizona snowbird. They each won Powerball's $1 million second prize.
The Maricopa woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket for the Powerball on Jan. 26 at the Fry's Food Store located at 20797 N. John Wayne Parkway in Maricopa. She is a nurse practitioner whose husband recently passed away. The numbers she played were her husband's old numbers.
"It was a shock finding out I'd won," the winner said. "I believe that my husband won the million for me."
The second winner, General Marsh, is a retired man who spends his winters in Arizona. He purchased two tickets for the March 16 Powerball draw at the Circle K located at 1605 E. Bell Rd. in Phoenix. He randomly chose six numbers for each of the tickets he purchased. His wife didn't believe him when he said he'd won.
There have been a total of 20 $1 million Powerball second prize winning tickets sold in Arizona since $2 Powerball launched in January 2012, according to the Arizona Lottery.
The next Powerball draw is Wednesday, March 20 for an estimated $260 million jackpot.
