ATLANTA -
Hunters and anyone driving a water vessel in Georgia would face lower blood-alcohol limits under a proposal that has cleared the Georgia House of Representatives.
The proposal would lower the current blood-alcohol limit from .10 percent to .08 percent, where it already stands for anyone operating a motor vehicle on Georgia roads.
Senate Bill 136 cleared the House with little opposition. Because of House changes, it now must go back to the Senate for further consideration.
Gov. Nathan Deal highlighted the proposal in his State of the State address in January. The governor said at the time that anyone who is too drunk to drive on the road is too drunk to drive on the water.
The act comes after high-profile deaths on Lake Lanier.
