SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -
Authorities say an auto break-in suspect who led them on a high-speed chase through the streets of Detroit and Southfield has been charged.
Southfield police say 39-year-old Erik Anton Tyus of Detroit was arraigned Saturday on charges including fleeing a police officer and assault. His bond was set at $150,000 and he's due back in 46th District Court in Southfield on March 21 for a hearing.
The court says Monday morning he didn't have a lawyer on record.
The chase during the Friday morning rush hour period was broadcast live on FOX 2, which aired footage taken from SkyFOX, the station's traffic helicopter.
"We noticed (the helicopter) was flying above us," said Southfield Sgt. Tim Barr. "They got their camera going and they tracked it for us. We had lost him a couple times for a little bit and they were able to monitor for us and kept us right on the car."
Police say no injuries were reported. Police say Tyus assaulted an officer and fled, ramming a police vehicle as he initially escaped.
