Sheriff: Va. homeowner fatally shoots intruder

Posted: Updated:
STERLING, Va. -

More questions than answers following a deadly shooting in Loudoun County. Police say a homeowner shot and killed an intruder early Sunday morning along Pullman Court in Sterling. They got the call shortly after 2:30 a.m. The incident remains under investigation and the identity of the intruder has not been released.

By the afternoon, most of the investigators had cleared the scene, but they returned after a confrontation between the homeowner and a neighbor. Witnesses say a man pulled up in a gray Audi, exchanged words with the homeowner, then stormed into a house two doors down. Once police returned they spent several hours speaking with people inside that house. Investigators say they're looking into the possibility of a connection between the neighboring home and the shooting. Police say there is no threat to the community and more information should be released tomorrow.
