2 arrested after 3-mile police chase in Yonkers

Posted: Updated:

YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - Police say two men are under arrest following a three-mile police chase through Yonkers.

The pursuit began after an unmarked police vehicle pulled over a Nissan Maxima Thursday afternoon for a traffic violation.

Police say the Nissan took off as an officer approached the car.

Newsday Westchester says as the Nissan sped down Ashburton Avenue, 1 of the suspects tossed a handgun out of the Nissan.

As the car continued on, it slammed into three empty parked cars. It then hit another car with two occupants, injuring them slightly.

Ariel Vazquez and William Martorony, both of Yonkers, were charged with assault, criminal gun possession and other charges.

The gun, a loaded .38-caliber, was recovered.

The suspects suffered minor injuries and were hospitalized. Information about their lawyers wasn't immediate available.
