Cyclists ride to Washington; call action against gun violence

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

26 cyclists started a 400-mile trek to Washington, D.C. Saturday hoping to stop gun violence.

The 26 cyclists represent each victim that was killed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

The event organizers are urging lawmakers to create tougher gun control laws.

"I ride for love, the love of innocence and beauty of a child who's life was so full of dreams and boundless possibilities -- I ride for Grace," said Chris McDonnell, father of one of the young victims.

The riders are due to arrive on Capitol Hill Tuesday and politicians are scheduled to meet next week to discuss possible changes to gun legislation.
