Friday morning brought great news for Tripp Halstead's family and everyone following his story. His mom Stacy posted a photo on Facebook of Tripp smiling his first smile in more than four months!
In her post on the Tripp Halstead Updates Facebook page, Stacy says, "I walked in this morning at 5:45 a.m. and the very first thing the nurse told me was that he smiled!!! She had tears in her eyes. So I went in the room and the first thing mom told me was that he smiled!!! She was crying, so I told Tripp good morning and then took this picture while I had tears running down my face!!"
Stacy added that it was the closest thing to seeing him happy since his accident four months ago. Tripp was critically injured in October when a tree branch fell on him outside his Winder daycare center. He has been hospitalized ever since.
Tripp also had surgery Friday morning to remove his two EVD drains. Around noon, Stacy posted an update on Facebook saying he was out of surgery, and doctors were working to bring his temperature up because he was cold.
