High-Speed Rail: 2013 Start Date In Question

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

Fox 11 Investigates has done multiple stories on delays and setbacks for California's High-Speed Rail Project.

Our investigative producer Heidi Cuda has reported on internal documents, where their own project managers in legal papers state that the construction may not begin until 2014.

But when we question the Rail Authority management, they respond that the project will begin construction this summer.

But as Cuda reports, another internal document uncovered by Fox 11 shows that their own project management team notes that initial construction will not begin until March of 2014.

Critics said these dates are critical because funding is tied to construction completion dates and so far, the project is behind schedule.

A spokesman for the Rail Authority maintains they are in the process of acquiring land and they do intend to start construction the summer of 2013.
