Police have charged three men in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a District of Columbia police officer.
It happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in southeast Washington. Police say the officer was on his motor scooter when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.
The officer suffered multiple injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.
Police on Wednesday arrested three men in connection with the incident. Twenty-four-year-old Kevin Burno was charged with felony assault on a police officer. Twenty-two-year-old Antonio Parks and 25-year-old Darrin Twisdale were both charged with obstruction of justice and possession of an open container of alcohol.
D.C. officials said Wednesday they're investigating why an ambulance was not available to help the officer. A Prince George's County rescue squad had to come to attend to the officer.
