Baby found dead in the Bronx

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police say a three-month-old baby girl was found dead in a Bronx apartment by her mother Saturday morning.

Authorities say 3-month-old Fiona Hern was found unconscious and unresponsive around 10:30 a.m. in the apartment on Lafayette Avenue in the Castle Hill section.

Fiona's mother said she put the baby to bed at 2:00 a.m. went to sleep herself and when she woke up the baby was unconscious.

EMS rushed the infant to Jacobi Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner hasn't yet determined a cause of death and the incident is under investigation.
