WASHINGTON -
It was a long wait outside in the cold for a just a chance at a job. Hundreds stood in a line that wrapped around a huge D.C. building Friday morning.
"My name is Antwan Williams and I am looking for administrative work," says one applicant. "I have a computer background."
This job fair was in a setting you might not expect at Arena Stage in Southwest Washington. Right now, the theater is presenting a play called "Good People."
"Its story, its heroine, if you will, is a woman who lives in South Boston not under the best circumstances and she loses her job," says Executive Director Edgar Dobie.
The character's perseverance inspired the theater's staff to host a job fair.
D.C. Councilman Tommy Wells was a cosponsor of the event.
"There's a new restaurant by the baseball stadium and they're hiring 125 people," says Wells. "We've got CSX. We've got Clark Construction and they're all hiring."
It is a new beginning for those eager to jump into the role of "newly hired."
