Students from the James Brown Academy of Musik in Augusta performed a tribute to the "Godfather of Soul" at the Georgia state Capitol on Tuesday.
State Rep. Gloria Frazier gave the students a special commendation.
They're learning how to become performers and read music. In turn, it's helping them with their grades in different subjects.
The students just released a funky new album with 11 soul classics. Proceeds go to the James Brown Musik Academy. They're trying to launch more J.A.M.P. programs in other cities.
