MAPLEWOOD MURDER: Hurd's father pleads for help finding killer

NORTH ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Two days after the body of 16-year-old Anna Hurd was found in a popular Maplewood park, her father is pleading with the public to help find her killer.

Hurd's body was found in a wooded area of Hillside Park with multiple stab wounds early Saturday morning, just blocks away from her family's North St. Paul home. On Monday, Patrick Hurd told FOX 9 News he is certain that there are people out there who know what happened and who killed his daughter.

"It's tearing me apart. I've run out of tears. I ran out of hope because I know the 48-hour rule and I'm angry. I'm very angry now," Pat Hurd said. "I would like somebody to give me an iota of hope that we can find the murderer of my daughter."

Pat Hurd told FOX 9 News he is offering a $2,000 reward out of his own pocket for information that will lead to a conviction.

"She was so fun, so funny, and she's just not here no more -- like that," Pat Hurd said while fighting back tears.

Anna Hurd's boyfriend, Anthony Mitchell, reportedly discovered her and called 911, but she was dead by the time emergency responders arrived.

Police have been pretty tight-lipped about the investigation, and that has left the Hurd family feeling frustrated.

"She was my little sister. I looked at her like a baby," Justin Ross told FOX 9 News. "I think it is a real senseless act by a senseless human being."

Late Sunday night, officers went door-to-door in the surrounding neighborhood to issue a crime alert and ask anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Maplewood Police Department.
