Gwinnett County police are using a billboard to try and catch a killer. Officers say leads have dried up in the 5-month-old murder of Monique Marlowe. They're hoping the billboard will lead to a tip that cracks the case.
Dan Marlowe is proud of his daughter Monique's accomplishments.
"She was heavily involved in tennis, swimming and band," said Dan Marlowe.
A room filled with medals, plaques and trophies is a testament to her promising, young life, but that ended last September when Monique was shot behind the Hertz Rent-A-Car in Duluth where she worked.
"We're looking for justice. We want this person caught," said Dan Marlowe.
The Marlowes are hoping a billboard at the intersection of Interstate 85 and Pleasant Hill Road will cause someone to come forward and claim the $25,000 reward for information that solves the cold case.
"We think it's in a very good place, where many people will see the sign every day, and hopefully people will talk and someone will decide to come forward," Dan Marlowe said.
The billboard will remain up for two months. The family is hoping that, in that time, police will get a tip that will lead them to Monique's killer.
"I am almost totally consumed with this. I've got to get some peace," Marlowe said.
The Gwinnett County Police Department paid for the billboard.
