Police say a high school freshman shot to death near his Hillcrest Heights home was killed over a pair of shoes.
Prince George's County police chief Mark Magaw says robbery was the motive for Monday's slaying of 15-year-old Charles Walker Jr., a freshman at Suitland High School.
Magaw says the attackers tried to steal a pair of shoes that Walker was carrying in a shopping bag. He says he anticipates that the perpetrators will be arrested.
Walker was one of six Prince George's County high school students to be killed this year, including two just this week. Another Suitland freshman was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Forestville. Police have not released the 18-year-old victim's name. Police say the slayings were not related.
