GLENN DALE, Md. -
Fortunately, no one was home when a Toyota Camry crashed through the brick facade of a house on Maiden Drive in Glenn Dale, Md. Tuesday afternoon.
The woman driver of the car was taken to a local hospital with possible broken bones, bumps and bruises, but no life-threatening injuries, according to Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady.
The homeowner, Lenworth Brown, was at work. He says when he got a call from a neighbor, he thought it was a joke.
Officials say they don't know if the woman had a mechanical problem with her car or if there was a medical issue.
Neighbors say it sounded like a bomb went off when the car slammed into the first floor den.
County officials declared the home uninhabitable. A tow truck took the car away.
Brown's insurance company is putting him up in temporary housing.
His dog, Diesel, was in the house when the crash occurred. He says the dog was upset and went out on the back deck, trying to figure out what was going on.
