WASHINGTON -

Darnell Christopher Ross was only 20 years old. Police say he died Saturday night when he was hit by a motorist in the 100 block of M Street in Northeast D.C.

The driver kept going. Darnell's mother, Cassandra Ross, is pleading with the driver to turn himself or herself in.

She says her son had gone out to a nightclub, Ibiza, that night. She's not sure if he ever made it inside.

Police called her early Sunday morning to notify her that her son had been transported to a local hospital after he was hit by a car. Cassandra says police told her it may have been a White Buick and that they will go through surveillance tapes from nearby streets as they look for clues.

Ross says she has two other adult sons. She says Darnell was living at home, had a job working with people who have disabilities and was planning to go back to college. He had taken some classes at Prince George's Community College, and intended to go to the University of Maryland for computer programming.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen or hear anything Saturday night. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
