Arrest made in daylight murder in northwest Atlanta

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Police say they have solved the murder of a teenager shot outside of a convenience store in broad daylight earlier in the month.

Monday marks two weeks since 17-year-old Wilton Smith-Muirhead was found in front of a store in the 500 block of James P. Brawley Drive NW bleeding from apparent gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

His mother, Tiwana Smith, spoke with FOX 5's Portia Bruner a day after the murder and said that her son's murder was a case of mistaken identity.

Police say Darnell Hudson turned himself into authorities on Sunday. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder.
