Facebook can be a very useful tool for students at ASU. One guy landed a job interview through Facebook, another student gets his homework assignments on it. Still others say it's a great way to find out about parties. But how about a hook up?
Now Facebook can be used for that too. "Bang With Friends" is a new casual dating app – a hook-up app.
A person can message a friend for a date. The friend will not see the person's request unless that friend wants the hook up too.
The app is really catching on. It launched about two weeks ago and already there are 600,000 people using it.
ASU students have mixed reviews.
"It sounds kind of corny if you ask me."
"I think college students will find that very useful."
Smart phones seem to be the most useful tool for college kids. On the ASU campus in Tempe, we noticed students like this: walking from class to class with their heads down, eyes glued to their phones.
"Facebook is huge, Twitter, Instagram all of those things are really big on campus," says student Elizabeth Kresojevich.
Students seem to be more focused on social media than being social on campus. Bang With Friends is the latest social media trend.
"I feel like it could be easier slash more creepy."
"There's a lot of opportunity for a lot of bad things to end up happening. And people not going in for an honest way to connect with somebody, for an honest relationship," says Elizabeth.
This is a sure fire way to get a date locked down. But there has to be a mutual desire to hook up.
